Schizophrenia and psychosis are both strongly connected terms with each other but they also have notable difference. the difference between these two psychosis and schizophrenia is as under:

Delusions. These are false beliefs which not based on reality. For example, individual may think that he is a big personality and has powers that no-body have. Delusions mostly occur in people with schizophrenia.

Hallucinations. These are also false believes. Hallucination belong to all 5 senses. It may hearing voices that are not present and see people or pics of people that are not present actual. Individual may feel tactile, odor and gustatory hallucination. But hearing voices is the common hallucinations.

Note: Individuals have fall in fever may feel auditory hallucinations. 

Disorganized thinking (speech). Disorganized thinking is predict from disorganized speech. In this disorder individual’s meaningful communication might be impaired, for example we ask a question from that person he answers the questions might be wrong or entirely unconnected.

Disorganized or abnormal motor behavior. This sign and symptoms might show in a different ways like, childish behaviour and silliness to unpredictable agitation. In this illness individual cannot focused on a goal. So it’s hard to complete any assigning tasks. Behavior can response not cooperative as per instructions, inappropriate or bizarre posture, totally lack of response or completely useless and unrestricted movement.

Negative symptoms

Individual with schizophrenia has negative symptoms as well. Due to this he/her cannot able to perform function normally. These negative symptom domain consists of five key constructs: as under

Blunted affect: Individual faces difficulties in expressing their emotions

Alogia: In a logia people might lose ability to produce words or have less quantity of words to spoken.

Avolition: In this symptom people face goal-directed activities problem due to decreased motivation.

A-sociality: A reduction in social initiative due to decreased interest in forming close relationships with others.

Anhedonia: less feel of pleasure

Symptoms may vary types and severity on occasions, with periods of worsening and indulgence of symptoms. Sometime symptoms may remain present always.

Symptoms in teenagers

The symptoms of schizophrenia in teenagers are matched with adults, but it is tough to recognize. Some of the initial symptoms of this disorder in teenagers are common. Such as:

  1. Withdrawal from friends and family
  2. A drop in performance at school
  3. Trouble sleeping
  4. Irritability or depressed mood
  5.  Lack of motivation
  6. Also, recreational substance use, such as marijuana, methamphetamines or LSD, can sometimes cause similar signs and symptoms.
  7. Compared with schizophrenia symptoms in adults, teens may be.
  8. Less likely to have delusions
  9. More likely to have visual hallucinations.

Who does it affect?

Usually the schizophrenia starts on different ages, and it’s depending on gender difference. In men this disorder commonly starts between the age of 15 and 25 and in women its starts from 25 to 35 years. The percentage of effected gender is almost equal in men and women.

In the children, mainly before18, is possible but this is much rare. But if present in this age than this cases are usually severe.

Almost 20% of new cases are happen in people more than 45 years and the ratio is more in women as men. Positive symptom like delusions are stronger in these cases, but with less negative symptoms and less ability to think and focus.

What Causes Schizophrenia?

Exact cause of schizophrenia isn’t known. But we can say that like other physical diseases example cancer and diabetes, schizophrenia is a real illness with a biological basis. Researchers have explored a number of things that look like to make anyone extra to get schizophrenia. Including:

By genes (heredity): The symptoms of this disease (schizophrenia) may transfer in families that means a more probability to have schizophrenia be impart from parents to their children.

Brain chemistry and circuits: Those people who affected by this disease like, schizophrenia might not possible to regulate brain chemicals (neurotransmitters) that control certain pathways, or circuits, of nerve cells that can impaired individual thinking and behavior.

Brain abnormality: Through the researches it is found that abnormal brain structure of people can occur schizophrenia. But the results cannot apply to all people with this disorder.

Environment: Other things also can effect like, viral infections, use of any substance like Hash and marijuana or highly stressful situations can increase chances of schizophrenia in those people whose inherent genes of this disorder from their parents. Schizophrenia mostly prominent in teen age and in young age like 18 to 25 years.
